Many in our community may remember the Armitage site, previously used by Loxley Hall School as a separate space for learning and activities. While it served its purpose for a time, the school made the decision to step away from using the site around 12–18 months ago. The distance and practical challenges meant it wasn’t working as effectively as intended for lessons.
However, Armitage’s story doesn’t end there.
Exploring New Possibilities
Recent discussions have sparked renewed interest in the site. During a conversation about introducing an MHT trainer, Armitage emerged as a promising location—opening the door to an exciting new vision.
Although plans are still evolving, the ambition is clear: to transform Armitage into a multi-functional hub that supports both organisational needs and the wider community.
A Space Transformed
Since revisiting the site, significant progress has already been made. Armitage has been redecorated in our company colours, giving the space a fresh identity that reflects who we are today.
To showcase this transformation, we will be sharing a before and after gallery, highlighting the journey from its previous use to its new look and purpose.
This transformation wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work and dedication of our Estates Team, who have played a key role in bringing the space back to life. Their efforts have laid the foundation for what Armitage could become in the months ahead.
A Space with Many Uses
The potential for Armitage is significant, with early ideas including:
- A training centre for staff development and MHT-led sessions
- A venue for school away days and off-site activities
- A community space available for hire, supporting local groups and events
- Office space for MHT use, providing additional flexibility
There is still much to consider before these plans are finalised, from logistics to long-term use. Careful planning will ensure the space reaches its full potential.
Looking Ahead
Even the name of the future space is yet to be agreed, reflecting that this project is still very much in development. What is certain, though, is the opportunity to give this building a renewed sense of purpose.
Armitage is not a listed building and was likely previously used as a local community centre or village hall before Loxley Hall School took it on. This makes it a flexible and adaptable space, ready to evolve once again.
A Fresh Start for Armitage
With the right vision and collaboration, Armitage has the potential to become far more than a former school site. It can grow into a vibrant, shared space—supporting training, community engagement, and organisational development all in one place.
Watch this space as plans continue to take shape and Armitage begins its next chapter.
