This summer, students from across Manor Hall Academy Trust came together for an inspiring Trust-wide Sustainability Day at the magical Alton Towers Hotel.
The day was all about celebrating what we’ve already achieved, learning from our brilliant partners, and empowering students to take the lead on protecting our planet and reducing our use of electricity in our schools.
Energy Savings That Make a Difference
Thanks to our amazing sponsors WN1, we’ve seen incredible success with our LED project — saving so much electricity that it’s the equivalent of taking a trip to Disney World 20 times a year! ✨ Students loved seeing how real changes in our schools make a global impact.
Student Creativity in Action
Our young people then put their passion into practice, creating inspiring energy-saving posters to encourage everyone to think about sustainability in their daily lives. The creativity, colour, and messages of change were simply brilliant.
Learning Beyond the Classroom
We were also treated to a fascinating talk from Alton Towers and Merlin Entertainments, who gave us a peek behind the scenes at how the rides operate. The mix of science, engineering, and sustainability had our students hooked — and might even have inspired a few future careers!
